A woman has been sentenced to prison after consistently targeting a shop, sometimes stealing from it twice a day, over a six-month period. Shannah Everitt, 29, shoplifted goods valued at nearly £4,000 from a BP service station situated on Ongar Road, Pilgrims Hatch, Essex, between June and the beginning of the current month. She was apprehended in London on 6 December in connection with a shop burglary committed in the capital. Appearing at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, she admitted to that offense and to 32 instances of shop theft in Essex. Everitt, who has no fixed address, received a 20-week jail sentence. The court was informed that she frequently visited the service station to commit thefts, “often twice a day,” according to Essex Police. The force reported that her methods included placing food into shopping bags, concealing items under her clothing, or simply carrying them out of the premises, with these thefts being captured on CCTV footage. PC Elliot Harris stated: “We take shoplifting very seriously. It has a detrimental impact on businesses and the wider community.” He further added: “Clear store CCTV footage helps us to build strong cases for court by assisting us in identifying offenders and placing them at the scene of their crimes. It often leaves offenders with no choice but to admit their guilt at the first available opportunity, as happened in this case.” Post navigation Convicted Murderer Absconds from Prison Again, Victim’s Family Criticizes Justice System 14-Year-Old Arrested Following Attempted Murder Stabbings
