Law enforcement personnel, utilizing metal detection equipment, discovered two suspicious objects concealed within the foliage of a municipal park during an operation to locate potential weapons. Officers from Thames Valley Police carried out this search operation in Slough’s Salt Hill Park during the weekend. This initiative was part of Operation Sceptre, a nationwide effort focused on combating knife crime and violence. According to a spokesperson, following the “thorough” search, most areas of the park were deemed clear. However, the spokesperson confirmed that “items were found in the bushes and booked in for destruction as they had no evidential purpose.” A separate search conducted in Herschel Park yielded no prohibited articles. Addressing local residents, a spokesperson issued a statement advising: “If you happen to come across any knives or potential weapons that could cause harm to the public don’t hesitate to go to Slough Police Station at the front office and put them in the amnesty bin that we have there, where the knives are disposed of.” Readers can connect with BBC Berkshire via Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or Instagram.
