Livingston defender Ryan McGowan suggests that Rangers might perceive their Europa League fixture against Tottenham on Thursday as “a good time” for the encounter. Philippe Clement’s team currently holds eighth place in the Europa League standings, one position higher than Spurs. Maintaining this standing would secure their advancement to the knockout stages, eliminating Spurs from the competition. Given that former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham squad has been challenged to achieve consistent performance, McGowan indicates that Rangers will likely believe in their prospects. Speaking on the Scottish Football Daily podcast, McGowan remarked: “They’ll be looking at Tottenham thinking this is a good opportunity or a good time to play them. They’ve not been getting the results they’ve probably wanted and they will not be looking forward to coming to Ibrox with how well Rangers do in Europe especially.” He further explained that this sets up an excellent game, as Rangers are currently in strong form and feeling confident. Conversely, Spurs are likely experiencing some pressure. McGowan added that if Rangers perform to their potential, they should secure a victory, making for a perfect Thursday night fixture.
