From gameweek 24 in January, participants in Fantasy Premier League will have the option to incorporate an assistant manager into their teams. This newly introduced assistant manager chip, which was previously known as the mystery chip, enables players to accumulate points from one of the 20 Premier League managers. These points are awarded based on the selected manager’s club’s performance, specifically their wins, draws, goals scored, and clean sheets achieved over a period of three consecutive gameweeks. For each victory, assistant managers will be awarded six points, while a draw will yield three points. Additionally, two points will be granted for every clean sheet, and one point for each goal scored by their team. Should a chosen manager’s team compete against a club positioned at least five places higher in the Premier League standings, they will receive an extra 10 points for securing a win and an additional five points for achieving a draw. Upon activation of this chip, the initial selection of an assistant manager will not utilize a free transfer. However, if a player opts to change their chosen manager during the designated three-gameweek duration, this action will incur a transfer cost, mirroring the process for changing players. Fantasy players are restricted to deploying only one chip per gameweek, which means it will not be possible to apply the ‘triple captain’ chip to an assistant manager. In the event that a selected manager departs from their club, players will continue to accrue points based on the performance of that original club.
