Following Bournemouth’s away victory, manager Andoni Iraola shared his thoughts with BBC Match of the Day, stating: “Very pleased with the performance and the win. We have played well without getting points in the last two games. We needed the win and the performance.” Iraola further commented on the first half, adding: “In the first-half, we were very dangerous and the press was working well. We deserved this. We are trying to put pressure on them, don’t let them feel comfortable.” The manager specifically highlighted Evanilson’s contribution, remarking: “Evanilson has made the difference today. He has been fighting with the centre-backs and the goalkeeper. He was phenomenal.” Regarding Justin Kluivert, Iraola noted his experience with penalties: “Justin [Kluivert] has played against my teams in Spain many times, and has also scored penalties. Justin is normally quite confident in those situations.” He elaborated on the penalty decisions, stating: “The first two were clear. For the third one, I thought maybe he is not the one to take it. But also, in the moment, I didn’t want to be the one to tell him.” Iraola also offered a general observation on penalty taking: “Every time you take another penalty, it becomes more difficult because you are giving the goalkeeper more information.” Concluding his remarks, the manager reiterated his praise for Evanilson: “But I would also like to acknowledge Evanilson. He didn’t score today but he is [the reason] why we won.”
