Newcastle United forward Jacob Murphy recently commented on the Magpies’ decisive victory against Ipswich Town during an interview with BBC Radio Newcastle. He stated: “It was very good. It was enjoyable to be back in Norfolk and get a big win. We sent the fans home happy and it was a good day.” While pleased to have scored, Murphy highlighted that a rapid start was instrumental in setting the team’s momentum. He expressed satisfaction with the positive performance, particularly given it was an away fixture. This win marks the team’s third triumph within a single week, which Murphy views as a crucial foundation for building momentum. He described it as a promising start for the squad. Regarding his goal, Murphy explained: “I felt relatively close to the goal, so it was about making good contact with the ball. I know I’ve got the power, so if I keep it in between the sticks then I have a good chance of it going in.” Addressing his recent involvement in scoring plays, he remarked: “I don’t need to score and assist to be enjoying my football. For me, it’s about making positive contributions. Whether you’re occupying the space or tracking a run, you just have to give everything on the field.” He further elaborated that goals and assists are considered bonuses. While contributing is positive, he believes that statistical output isn’t always necessary to recognize a strong individual performance. Murphy concluded by sharing his core philosophy: “It’s not about who scores, it’s about the fact that we score – that is a big ethos of mine. I feel like that is filtering through the team, we are becoming a lot less selfish and we are creating chances for everybody.” Post navigation Rushall Olympic Anticipates National Recognition from FA Cup Match Barrow Manager Stephen Clemence Receives Three-Match Touchline Ban
