Martin Fawcett, a 55-year-old man from Cluttons Close in Crowland, has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13. The verdict for the offence, which took place in December 2022, was delivered at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday. Fawcett is scheduled to return to Lincoln Crown Court for his sentencing hearing on 9 January 2025. Detective Constable Katherine Brennan of Lincolnshire Police, who was involved in the investigation, characterized Fawcett’s conduct as “sickening and totally unacceptable”. She further stated, “Children represent the most vulnerable people in our society and his actions show a disregard for his victim’s age and well-being.” Detective Constable Brennan commended the bravery of the victim and their family. According to her, “We know it’s incredibly difficult, but their contribution has helped secure a conviction.” She concluded by stating, “We will do everything in our power to bring people who perpetrate such crimes to justice.”
