Law enforcement has apprehended four activists following demonstrations conducted outside a defense company. Palestine Action stated that its members obstructed access to two Elbit Systems UK facilities in Bristol. This was achieved by utilizing equipment to secure themselves within a vehicle, thereby blocking the entrances. Authorities reported receiving a call around 06:45 GMT concerning incidents at two commercial properties located in Aztec West Business Park and Patchway. Four individuals have been taken into custody on suspicion of committing a public order offense, and an inquiry into the matter is currently in progress. Elbit Systems, an Israel-based global defense contractor, provides equipment to the Israeli army. Elbit Systems UK issued a statement to the BBC, saying: “We are proud to provide critical support and advanced technology to the British armed forces from our sites in Bristol, and this work has continued uninterrupted today. “Any claims that these facilities supply the Israeli military or Israeli Ministry of Defence are completely false.” Palestine Action publicly acknowledged its involvement in the demonstrations via social media platforms. Avon and Somerset Police stated that at each of the two locations, two individuals were situated inside a vehicle, obstructing an entrance. Police officials further noted: “They’d used equipment to lock or secure themselves inside the vehicle.” The statement continued: “Officers attended both sites and engaged with the protestors. Specialist officers were then deployed to safely free them.” The police force added: “We’re committed to facilitating people’s right to lawful protest, but we have a duty to balance these rights with those of other members of the public who are entitled to go about their lives without disruption.”
