The public is currently being consulted regarding a plan to convert the location of a former Café Rouge restaurant in Surrey into a car wash. This application, concerning the 748 sq-m (800 sq-ft) property situated on Portsmouth Road in Esher, was lodged with Elmbridge Borough Council on October 24. Under the proposed alterations, the rear courtyard parking section of the site would be repurposed for car washing operations, incorporating awnings to cover both the washing and drying zones. Residents in the local area are able to provide their feedback on the application until December 13. According to the planning application, the envisioned car wash would be established on a property that features an existing tarmac surface and has remained unused for multiple years. The application further states: “There will be no loud machinery as the washing facility will be operated entirely by handheld hoses.” The party submitting the application is requesting an 18-month lease for the premises, which would operate daily, seven days a week.
