A technical issue with signalling equipment is leading to significant interruptions for rail operations in Wiltshire. Great Western Railway (GWR) journeys connecting Swindon and Chippenham are experiencing either cancellations or delays reaching up to 60 minutes, attributed to a line obstruction. According to a statement posted on the Network Rail website, “Specialist teams are on site, but are currently unable to resolve the problem.” Commuters making trips between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads have also received advisories that their services might be rerouted or follow an extended path. Great Western Railway (GWR) advised travelers to verify the status of their journeys prior to heading to the station, while engineers were engaged in efforts to rectify the situation. GWR further stated, “Passengers are reminded to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys during this period of disruption.” This current signal outage follows significant train disruptions that occurred over the weekend, which were caused by a lack of available staff. Individuals whose travel plans were affected were informed that their tickets would be valid for use on Monday. For updates, follow BBC Wiltshire on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
