A 12-year-old girl has been taken into custody following an alleged assault involving scissors against a staff member at a school. West Mercia Police reported that officers were dispatched to Newport Girls’ High School Academy in Shropshire at 14:25 GMT on Friday. The police force confirmed that the victim sustained minor injuries. The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and subsequently released on bail. The school characterized the event as “an isolated incident” involving a student and an employee. Adam Jones, the headteacher, stated that the staff member received hospital treatment and was later discharged. He added that the school was cooperating with the police force’s inquiries and emphasized that the institution took the “safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff very seriously”.
