Discussions have recommenced between Transport for London (TfL) and the Aslef trade union, aiming to prevent industrial action and finalize an accord regarding employment terms. Passengers using London Underground services should anticipate disruptions on Thursday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 12, and have been advised to make travel arrangements in advance for these specific days. Aslef has advocated for a four-day work week for Tube drivers, seeking to standardize their working hours with those of other operators across the UK. Separately, industrial action scheduled by the RMT trade union for November 1 was cancelled after negotiations with TfL concerning remuneration. Tom Edwards, BBC London’s transport correspondent, commented: “Aslef says it’s reasonably happy with the pay offer but it wants to discuss moving to a four-day week in line with other operators.” He added, “At the moment the strike which will shut the Tube on Thursday 7 and Tuesday 12 November is very much on.” Claire Mann, TfL’s chief operating officer, stated that they would “urge Aslef to also call off its planned action next week”. TfL has recommended that individuals attending the Chelsea v Noah UEFA Conference League match at Stamford Bridge in Fulham “plan ahead” for their journeys. Musician JP Cooper has cancelled his “biggest UK gig” due to feedback from his fans, who indicated that the impending Tube strike would either prevent them from attending the concert or from returning home afterward.
