A butcher’s shop announced it was “delighted” to have received a national accolade for its chipolata sausage. Frank Parker Butchers, situated in Nuneaton, was acknowledged for its handcrafted pork chipolata during the 2024 UK Sausage Week competition held in October. The family-operated butcher shop, established in the Warwickshire town in 1896, has been run by five generations. Frank Parker, who manages the business, stated he has been producing sausages for 71 years and expressed being “very proud” to have secured the award. He noted that he has sold a significant quantity of chipolatas because “people love them,” and that he has previously created around 14 different sausage varieties. “Sausage is an art form and we’re very proud to do it properly,” he remarked. He added, “It’s one of the delights of my life making sausage, the other one is serving customers.” Mr. Parker entered the competition by submitting samples, which were then shortlisted before his entry was declared the winner. He and his grandson, who is involved in making the sausage, received the honor at a ceremony at Butchers Hall in London on October 28. Commenting on their victory, he further stated: “We’re delighted.” The butcher shop has been recognized as Best Shop In the Midlands three times and previously won the UK’s Best Butchers Shop award in 2000.
