British number one Katie Boulter has reached the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Open following a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Anastasia Zakharova. Earlier this year, Boulter claimed titles at the WTA 500 event in San Diego and the Nottingham Open. Boulter, ranked 29 in the world rankings, navigated a tight first set, saving two break points in the seventh game before securing a crucial break in the 10th. The second set was one-sided, with Boulter securing the win in only 30 minutes. A highlight included a stunning cross-court forehand after a lengthy rally in the fourth game. Boulter, who also reached the Pan Pacific Open semi-finals last week, commented on her performance, stating: “The first set I think I was on another planet.” She added, “She was playing some good tennis. I picked up at 5-3 and played some really good stuff after that. I was free and relaxed on the court.” Second seed Boulter is scheduled to compete against Yue Yuan in the semi-finals. The Chinese sixth seed secured her spot by defeating American Sofia Kenin 6-3, 6-3. The 28-year-old is pursuing her third WTA Tour title of the season, following her earlier victories in Nottingham and San Diego.
