Rangers ascended to the top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) standings, surpassing Glasgow City, after achieving a decisive victory against Motherwell. The winning goal came in the first half from their leading scorer, Katie Wilkinson. Meanwhile, Hearts and Glasgow City concluded their match in a goalless draw, with neither team managing to score. In another fixture, Spartans and Partick Thistle played to a 1-1 draw, leaving them in eighth and seventh place, respectively. Wilkinson opened the scoring for Rangers within the initial 10 minutes at K Park Stadium, heading the ball into the net following a precise cross from Lizzie Arnot. Wilkinson continued to threaten, nearly adding a second goal when her shot struck the crossbar, and Kirsty Howat also had a close attempt. Motherwell almost equalized late in the game through Lucy Barclay, but Rangers goalkeeper Jenna Fife made a crucial save to preserve her team’s advantage. Glasgow City dropped to second place after being held to a goalless draw by Hearts at Oriam, with the home side retaining their third-place position. Emma Brownlie and Bayley Hutchinson came close for Eva Olid’s team, and Jackie Richards nearly converted a late cross. Leanne Ross believed her side had taken the lead, but Nicole Kozlova’s goal was disallowed due to a handball by Katie Lockwood as the ball moved across the goal. Both teams struggled to demonstrate decisive quality in the final third, despite maintaining periods of attacking possession. Elsewhere, Partick Thistle and Spartans played to a draw at Petershill Park in a fiercely contested encounter. Hannah Jordan put the visiting Spartans ahead early on, before Carla Boyce leveled the score for Thistle prior to halftime. The hosts registered nine shots on target, but Jack Beesley’s side remained steadfast, resulting in a tied finish.
