A temporary distribution point supplying bottled water to individuals impacted by a ruptured water main experienced a temporary closure due to a depletion of its bottle stock. According to Thames Water, the leakage was impacting water provision in the RG4 and RG9 postcode sectors, encompassing Sonning Common and Henley-on-Thames. The bottled water facility situated at the Tesco branch in Henley underwent a temporary shutdown for stock replenishment. The utility provider stated that it had isolated the ruptured pipe located near Reades Lane in Sonning Common and anticipated an improvement in water supplies by the following morning. The company communicated: “The re-routing of water around our pipes means your water will return as the pressure in the pipe builds.” It added: “Unfortunately, this is taking longer than we expected.” The statement continued: “When your water returns you may notice at first the pressure at your tap is lower than you’re used to, but this will improve overnight as further water is re-routed around the area.” The majority of educational institutions in the vicinity, such as Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge and Sonning Common Primary, were compelled to cease operations for the day subsequent to the leak. Thames Water announced that the bottled water distribution point ceased operations for the night at 21:00 GMT and would recommence service at 08:00 should it be required. The utility also indicated that it was providing bottled water deliveries to its priority clientele. For updates, BBC Oxfordshire can be followed on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or Instagram.
