A police constable and her father have entered not guilty pleas to charges of perverting the course of justice in connection with an alleged driving incident. Aisha Iqbal, aged 27, residing at Buxton Place, Wakefield, denied the accusation of conspiring to pervert the course of justice, with the alleged conspiracy occurring between 1 July 2021 and 15 December 2021. Her father, Zaffar Iqbal, aged 62, from Priory Avenue, Wembley, London, also entered a not guilty plea to the identical charge during a hearing at Bradford Crown Court on Monday morning. Their trial is scheduled for 2 December 2026. In the same court session, another police officer, Abdul Iqbal, aged 27, also of Buxton Place, Wakefield, appeared before Judge Ahmed Nahim and admitted guilt to three charges of perverting the course of justice. His sentencing is set for February. The initial charge against Mr. Iqbal stemmed from his detention after he allegedly requested a passenger to falsely claim they were operating his vehicle, as he had exceeded the legal alcohol limit. The two additional charges are for driving under the influence of alcohol and for failing to supply information. Judge Nadim stated: “The combination of the offences you have admitted to will inevitably lead to a sentence of imprisonment.” Both police constables were employed by West Yorkshire Police and have been suspended from their duties. PC Abdul Iqbal was assigned to Kirklees, while PC Aisha Iqbal was stationed in Wakefield.
