Woman Detained in Murder Inquiry

A woman has been taken into custody on suspicion of murdering a man in his sixties. Northumbria Police officers were dispatched to a property on Sceptre Place, situated in Newcastle’s Elswick district, at 18:30 GMT on Monday, after receiving reports of a disturbance. Emergency personnel discovered a male with “serious injuries” at the scene; he passed away a short time after their arrival. Detective Inspector Mark Atherton stated that the police force suspects the man and the woman, who is also in her sixties, were known to each other, and he urged the public to provide any relevant information. The woman continues to be held in police custody, the force confirmed, and the deceased man’s next of kin have been notified.
