An individual has been charged with the murder of a teacher discovered deceased in south London on Thursday morning. Gemma Devonish, who served as head of year at Rosebery School in Epsom, Surrey, died at the scene in Nutfield Close, Carshalton, as reported by the Metropolitan Police. James Madden, 38, of Railton Road, Lambeth, has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday. The Met stated that detectives are not seeking any other individuals in connection with Ms Devonish’s death and are awaiting the findings of a post-mortem examination. Rosebery School had previously communicated that staff and pupils were “devastated by the sudden and unexpected death”. In a statement, the school conveyed: “Our thoughts are with Gemma’s mother and sister, extended family and friends, at this deeply distressing time.”
