Following their decisive 5-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday, Chelsea is positioned second in the Premier League table. The club is ahead of Arsenal on goal difference and trails leaders Liverpool by seven points. While Enzo Maresca has repeated that he and the team will only be focusing on one game at a time, Blues fans can be understood for beginning to look ahead at upcoming fixtures. If they do, they could also not be blamed for thinking there are opportunities for Maresca’s side to strengthen their position. These are Chelsea’s next eight league opponents, along with their respective positions in the table: Tottenham (a) – 8th Brentford (h) – 9th Everton (a) – 15th Fulham (h) – 12th Ipswich (a) – 18th Crystal Palace (a) – 17th Bournemouth (h) – 13th Wolves (h) – 19th Notably, six of these eight fixtures are against teams currently in the bottom half of the table.
