Hashtag United has issued a two-season ban to one of its supporters following an alleged homophobic comment. This remark was reportedly made on October 26 during an FA Trophy away fixture against Dulwich Hamlet FC. An investigation by Hashtag United concluded with the supporter being prohibited from attending any of the club’s matches. Furthermore, the club stated that the individual must complete an LGBTQIA+ awareness course before any potential return is evaluated. In a statement, the club affirmed, “Football is a sport that should be enjoyed by all, free from all forms of discrimination.” Hashtag, established in 2016 by YouTuber Spencer Owen, secured a 5-4 victory on penalties in the FA Trophy first-round tie, following a 1-1 draw in regular play. Hashtag United reported that staff members from Dulwich Hamlet FC notified them of the alleged comment subsequent to the match. Hashtag United conveyed in a statement that “The club takes all allegations of this nature extremely seriously,” and confirmed it had “conducted a thorough and fair investigation.” The club’s statement continued, “After careful consideration of all the evidence available to us, we believe this comment was made and as such we have taken appropriate action.” Following the identification of the individual responsible and consultation with both the league and an external specialist, the person has now received a two-season prohibition from all Hashtag United men’s, women’s, and junior fixtures. Hashtag United, a team in the Isthmian League Premier Division, is scheduled to play Brackley Town from the National League North at home in the second round of the FA Trophy. The FA stated that matters concerning spectators do not fall within its jurisdiction, but expressed support for the club’s decision. The BBC has sought a statement from Dulwich Hamlet FC. In an earlier statement, Dulwich Hamlet FC affirmed its efforts to ensure that its venue, Champion Hill, “is a place where everyone can feel safe and have the confidence to report any behaviour knowing that it will be acted on swiftly.” Post navigation West Ham and Brighton Draw 1-1; Audience Invited to Share Reactions Oxford United Fans Express Shock and Sadness Over Des Buckingham’s Dismissal
