According to officials, a recently established health facility providing diagnoses and treatments to residents of Torbay and south Devon has served over 1,400 individuals since its opening in September. This NHS community diagnostic centre (CDC), located on Market Street, provides care for various ailments, such as cancer, heart disease, and lung conditions. NHS leaders stated that the centre’s operation allows teams at the adjacent Torbay Hospital to concentrate on more intricate medical situations, in addition to the centre itself providing urgent and emergency services. They also projected that over 40,000 diagnostic tests would be conducted at the facility within the upcoming year. Managers indicated that the establishment of the centre aimed to accelerate treatment processes, decrease waiting lists, and offer individuals access to necessary tests within the town centre, thereby avoiding visits to Torbay Hospital, which is situated on the outskirts of Torquay.
