A 10-year-old actor, making his first screen appearance portraying a younger Robbie Williams, described his encounter with the singer on the red carpet as “amazing.” Carter-J Murphy, a resident of Failsworth in Oldham, portrays the former Take That member in the recently released biographical film *Better Man*, which was directed by Michael Gracey, known for *The Greatest Showman*. Earlier this year, the young performer also became part of the cast of *Coronation Street*, taking on the character of Harry Platt, the son of Sarah Platt and Callum Logan. His mother, Abbie, characterized her son’s ascent to prominence over the past year as “mental” and expressed that she was “really, really proud of him.” The young actor encountered Williams at the film’s European premiere in London, held on the red carpet, and remarked that Williams was “really nice” and supportive. Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester, Carter-J revealed that he began his acting journey at a dance school when he was three years old, subsequently choosing to “might as well just carry on with this as a career” after developing a passion for the profession. “I then just started getting auditions after auditions,” he stated. Carter-J expressed surprise at being cast as Harry Platt in *Coronation Street* earlier this year, noting that residents in his local area had begun to recognize him publicly. His mother, Abbie, commented: “Being from Manchester anyway, you grow up watching Coronation Street, so when your child gets cast as one of the Platts, it’s just crazy.” She added, “I am really, really proud of him.” Carter-J mentioned his enjoyment in portraying the younger Williams, stating, “I am more like him,” and described the premiere attendance as a great experience due to the presence of “loads and loads of famous people.” Regarding his acting approach, he explained his goal was to “just think what I would feel if I was Robbie, what would he feel like, will he feel this way in this situation.” The 10-year-old indicated that he currently has a two-week break from filming *Coronation Street* for Christmas and anticipates some relaxation following a demanding year.
