A criminal investigation has been initiated subsequent to the death of an infant in Devon, police have confirmed. Devon and Cornwall Police reported that officers were dispatched to a caravan on the outskirts of Yealmpton, near Plymouth, at approximately 13:45 GMT on Wednesday, responding to concerns for welfare. The force stated that a four-month-old baby boy received treatment from ambulance crews but was pronounced dead at the scene. A 41-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested for criminal offences, including child neglect, according to the police. The force indicated that the man was taken into police custody and subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries. The baby’s next of kin have been informed and will receive support from specially trained officers. Det Insp Dave Egan stated that inquiries are “ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and how the death has occurred”. Mr Egan added, “”The death of a young baby is devastating, and our thoughts are with his family at this awful time.” He further remarked, “”I know that an incident of this nature will cause concern amongst the community, but I must ask that you do not speculate about this matter.”” Post navigation Former Footballer Enters Not Guilty Plea to Assault Allegations in Glasgow Former Head Teacher Jailed for Indecent Child Images
