A 20-year-old male has been given a five-year custodial sentence after attempting to rape a woman in a car park. Law enforcement was alerted shortly after 03:15 BST on June 22 of this year by a member of the public who reported that a woman in her twenties had been assaulted in Boston and was located at a McDonald’s on Queen Street. Upon arrival, officers confirmed with the victim that the incident occurred in the long stay car park situated on George Street. Keith Lindop, residing on Station Street in Boston, admitted guilt to both an attempted rape charge and a distinct charge of actual bodily harm. His sentencing took place at Lincoln Crown Court on November 15. Lindop is designated to serve his sentence within a young offenders’ institution. Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and permanently added to the Sex Offender’s Register for life. A 24-week sentence was also imposed for the actual bodily harm charge, to be served concurrently with the primary sentence. DC Sarah Oliver, who served as the investigating officer for the case, stated: “Lindop is a predatory and dangerous individual in the way that he watched and followed the victim. “He was excessively violent during the attack. It was down to the courage and determination that the young woman showed in standing up to him that she managed to escape.”” Inspector Ian Cotton of Boston Neighbourhood Policing commented: “This really was excellent work from our officers, working all hours to bring this dangerous offender to justice.”No woman should go through what this survivor did.”Tackling violence against women and girls is a priority and there should be no hiding place for those who prey on women.””
