A five-year restraining order has been issued to a former care home employee following the sexual assault of a resident. Suzanne Ruckert encountered the victim at a care facility located in the Castle Point borough of Essex, with their interactions occurring between 2021 and 2022. For a period of five months, she established direct communication with the victim through social media platforms and transmitted intimate images, thereby initiating sexual contact. On 11 November, at Basildon Crown Court, the 29-year-old individual, residing at Atherstone Road in Canvey Island, admitted guilt to three charges of sexual assault with no penetration involving a mentally disordered person. Additionally, she was added to the sex offenders register, received a three-year community order, and was mandated to perform 100 hours of unpaid work along with 90 days of rehabilitation activity. According to Essex Police, Ruckert departed from the sector in October 2022, and the victim revealed the actions to those overseeing their care in May 2023. Detective Constable Emma Taylor stated: “A carer is in a position of power in relation to those in their care and she abused this position.” For updates on Essex news, information is available on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
