A distinctive Christmas market is scheduled to take place in Kent this Saturday. The event, located at The Centre in Margate, is dedicated to showcasing the work of teenage participants. This follows a similar market that was held in the town during July. The national organization The Teenage Market is organizing this initiative, in collaboration with Thanet District Council. The market will offer stalls selling items such as home-made jewellery, various crafts, and vintage clothing, alongside performances by local musicians. Brothers Tom and Joe Barratt established The Teenage Market when they were teenagers. The first event in the UK took place in Stockport in 2012, and markets are now conducted in locations across the country. Joe Barratt commented: “Having seen the impact that our events have made on the lives of young people, I’m delighted that Thanet District Council is giving young people a free platform to get their businesses off the ground and showcase their creative talents.” Ruth Duckworth, cabinet member for regeneration and growth, stated: “The Festive Market will be bigger and better than the summer event, with an increased number of stalls.“The young people will have put in a lot of hard work designing their stall and creating products to sell. This is also an opportunity to support your high street, pick up some Christmas gifts and explore what local businesses have to offer.” For updates, follow BBC Kent on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram.
