Sheffield Wednesday head coach Danny Rohl, who has maintained a 42% win rate since assuming the role in October 2023, has voiced his dissatisfaction after his team secured only one point in their 1-1 draw against Cardiff City. During Saturday’s match, Wednesday demonstrated significant control, registering 16 shots, though only three of these were directed on target. “Yeah of course not happy from my side – again the performance I think we tried everything to win this game,” Rohl conveyed to BBC Radio Sheffield. He further elaborated on the team’s struggles, stating, “It’s the final decision, maybe one extra pass to make it a 100% goal chance, then we had a one against one with the goalkeeper.” Rohl added, “We missed I think four big chances, we didn’t score and it’s hard to take.” Despite an inconsistent start to the season for The Owls, marked by five wins and seven losses in their initial 16 league fixtures, Saturday’s display is considered among their strongest performances of the current campaign. “I must say we controlled really everything from them, the big things that I wanted them to- ball possession and a good structure,” Rohl remarked. However, he underscored the primary objective: “But we want to win games and that’s the most important thing in football.” Rohl also pointed out the unusual circumstance that his squad has not been awarded a single penalty in the 13 months since he took charge. “You need this in football as well, the luck, I understand everyone says we could have had five [more] points,” he concluded.
