An annual Christmas tractor procession, featuring a convoy of tractors adorned with festive lights and tinsel, is scheduled to proceed through Lichfield, Staffordshire, this Saturday afternoon. This event, now in its fifth year, will cover a 17-mile path, passing landmarks such as the cathedral and Beacon Park, with the aim of raising funds for charity. The initiative, a collaborative effort between South Staffs Water and Lichfield Young Farmers Club (YFC), has historically generated more than £20,000 for various charitable causes. Organisers of the event further stated that the funds collected from this year’s parade are designated for Lichfield YFC, alongside the charities 4Louis and St Giles Hospice. Nina Yiannoukos-Benton of South Staffs Water commented that the event “brings so much joy” to local residents during the festive period leading up to Christmas. She added, “This year, we are delighted to be supporting three charities, each of whom do outstanding work to support people in local communities.” The procession of tractors is scheduled to depart from its starting location outside Ryman’s Christmas Trees on Watling Street at 17:00 GMT, subsequently proceeding along a route through the city centre. Tom Harrison, who serves as chairman of the Lichfield YFC, also noted that the gathering offers individuals a chance to “connect with the local farming community.” Follow BBC Stoke & Staffordshire on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X and Instagram.
