A film company involved in the production of Ed Sheeran’s most recent music video in Suffolk expressed that collaborating with him was a “real pleasure.” Sheeran, who previously attended school in Framlingham, recorded the visuals for his new Christmas single, “Under The Tree,” along the Southwold seafront and in various locations within the town. Released this week, the video showcases Sheeran alongside “Bridgerton” actress Claudia Jessie and was directed by Richard Curtis, known for “Love Actually.” Screen Suffolk oversaw the production, and its film officer, Jim Horsfield, commented: “The guys that came and filmed were an absolute delight to work with.” The new single by Sheeran is set to be included in the Netflix film “That Christmas,” which is directed by Simon Otto and features Brian Cox and Bill Nighy. Scenes show Sheeran positioned outside the Little Gems shop in Market Place and walking along the Southwold coastline, passing beach huts. During filming breaks, he posed for photographs with fans, including Amanda Jane, who described him as “polite and approachable.” Mr. Horsfield, whose past collaborations include actors such as Ralph Fiennes and Carey Mulligan, stated that Sheeran’s choice to film in one of his familiar childhood areas was not unexpected. He further explained: “Suffolk is a unique location – we’ve got big skies, which means there’s great light to shoot in.” He also noted: “People like to stay local and keep it real with places and people that they know and that’s obviously something Ed enjoys doing.” Mr. Horsfield concluded by stating: “It was a real pleasure to work [on the video] and there was a really nice atmosphere on the set, everyone was really friendly and open.”
