A mountain rescue team provided assistance to a couple who encountered difficulties during a walk in the Peak District. The Kinder Mountain Rescue Team reported responding to a call regarding a woman who had become trapped up to her thighs in a peat bog on the Kinder plateau. Her partner subsequently extracted her, a process during which she lost her boots. The team indicated that the woman proceeded to walk for an hour in her socks as nightfall approached. They then contacted emergency services when she lost feeling in her feet. Alan Howarth, the Kinder team leader, acquired a pair of size six walking boots from his daughter. These boots were then transported by rescuers, who subsequently guided the distressed couple to safety. Mr. Howarth stated that the couple was situated “a long way” within the plateau when they requested assistance on 5 November. He stated: “When we arrived, they were clearly very cold and wet. We put them in a casualty shelter and started warming them up with hot drinks and jelly babies for energy.” “We were all pleased to see that she was able to warm up enough to walk back to our vehicles, as the alternative would have been a long stretcher carry going on until late at night.” “They had both made an impressive attempt to get down under their own steam, but in the end made the correct decision to call us.” Post navigation Advocacy Group Calls for Clarity on New Railway Line’s Start Date Missing Boater in Irish Sea Thanks Search Efforts
