A walking, wheeling, and cycling path situated along the Teign Estuary is set to receive a £1.45 million investment from Devon County Council and Teignbridge District Council. This funding is allocated for the design and land acquisition of a new 1.7-mile (3km) segment of the trail, which will extend between the Passage House Inn at Kingsteignton and Bishopsteignton. However, Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for cycling, indicated that “significant” additional funding is still required. The existing trail connects the towns of Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton to Dawlish. The authorities confirmed that Devon County Council is contributing £900,000 of the total funding, with Teignbridge District Council providing the remaining £550,000. Hughes stated that council teams would be “working hard to get this next section shovel ready but significant external funding will be needed to deliver this and the other remaining sections of the trail”. Councillor Ron Peart, the county councillor for Kingsteignton and Teign Estuary, commented that the investment would facilitate progress on the design and land purchase phases. He added, “A significant amount funding will still be needed but this is a step in the right direction.” Post navigation UK Waterways Face Pharmaceutical Contamination Concerns, Prompting Public Rally Mouse Sighting Raises Concerns for Seabird Colony on UK Island
