A significant number of luxury vehicles have been stolen in a series of keyless car thefts reported across Lincolnshire, police have confirmed. Since the beginning of November, seven vehicles have been taken, specifically three Lexus’, two BMWs, and two Mercedes’, alongside an an attempted theft of a Porsche Cayenne. These incidents occurred in Lincoln, Boston, Gainsborough, and Sleaford. Lincolnshire Police have noted an increase in these types of thefts, which typically occur between midnight and 04:00 GMT. The force suspects these incidents are the work of an organised crime group. Keyless car theft involves using a device to trick a vehicle into believing its key is nearby, which then unlocks the car and starts the ignition. This method allows thieves to unlock, start, and steal a car even if the vehicle and home are otherwise secure. Several methods are available to protect vehicles from keyless car theft.
