Jim Beglin, a former defender for Liverpool, has stated that the current situation “is all just working a treat for” the club’s new head coach, Arne Slot. Liverpool, known as The Reds, currently leads the Premier League by five points over the reigning champions, Manchester City, having suffered only one defeat this season to date. Speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside, Beglin remarked, “Slot did inherit a very good squad but he is also making the best of it.” He added, “We wondered if there was going to be much change and there hasn’t been.” Beglin highlighted that the team’s midfield adjustments have proven highly effective, expressing surprise at Ryan Gravenberch’s exceptional performance: “Who would have thought Ryan Gravenberch would be playing the way he has been? He has been fantastic.” Beglin elaborated on Gravenberch’s role, noting, “He is not a six because he loves a run forward, but whenever he does that it is a trigger for Alexis Mac Allister.” He further praised Mac Allister for his “tenacity and the way he wins the ball and moves it on” this season, concluding that “Together, Mac Allister and Gravenberch have been wonderful.” He also observed that while Dominik Szoboszlai began the season energetically, his form has “perhaps faded a bit in recent weeks.” Consequently, Curtis Jones has stepped into his position, contributing to the team’s success, particularly as “Trent Alexander-Arnold is also playing with more license to get up and around the oppositions box.” Beglin summarized the club’s current standing by stating, “For Liverpool right now it’s dreamland.”
