A significant roadway in Hertfordshire has been shut down following a crash. According to National Highways, the northbound carriageway of the A1(M) has been inaccessible between junction 4, for Hatfield, and junction 5, for Welwyn Garden City, since approximately 05:00 GMT. Vehicles on the southbound lanes were halted but have since been allowed to proceed. National Highways also indicated that emergency personnel are present at the scene and advised motorists to anticipate delays. Hertfordshire Police have requested that drivers steer clear of the vicinity as their officers manage the incident.
