The date for a second Dave Day event, established in memory of television chef Dave Myers, has been revealed. Lili Myers, his wife, and Jason Woodcock, also known as Woody, a friend, verified that the event will take place again in Barrow, Cumbria, on the weekend of June 21 and 22. Earlier in the current year, a procession originating in London, led by Si King, Myers’ co-star from The Hairy Bikers, saw tens of thousands of motorcyclists converge on Myers’ hometown. Myers passed away in February at the age of 66, after a cancer diagnosis. The announcement of Dave Day 2 occurred during the Motorcycle Live event held at the NEC, close to Birmingham, where it was also disclosed that a lasting memorial has been established in Barrow-in-Furness. The initial event, held this past June, witnessed the motorcycling community collect £127,000 for charitable causes, with over 20,000 motorcyclists participating in a ride from London to Barrow. While announcing the subsequent event, Lili Myers described it as “an exciting time” and stated that although “the first one was brilliant, this one will be bigger and better”. She further commented: “Dave Day 2025 is happening. We want to make it fabulous, make it special and something every person will enjoy.” Myers added: “I’m very happy to bring people into Barrow again, I know they would want that. “We had a taste this year and it was amazing and I want more of that.”” A mural portraying Dave Myers in his distinctive black biker leathers has been painted by artist Shawn Sharpe. This artwork is located on advertising hoardings adjacent to the Kings pub on Dalton Road in Barrow. In an interview with BBC Radio Cumbria, Mr. Sharpe stated: “It wasn’t me who came up with this idea, it was the public in Barrow. “I was getting tagged on social media over and over again asking ‘can we have a mural?’.” He continued: “My response was that it has to be the family who would like a mural and if they do then I’d be willing to do one. “Then I spoke to Lily and it went from there.”” The mural’s design is derived from a photograph selected by Myers’ widow from the family’s private collection.
