An advisory has been issued to residents in the vicinity of a significant industrial building fire in Worcestershire, recommending they seal their windows and doors because of the substantial volume of black smoke emanating from the conflagration. According to the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, emergency crews, comprising seven fire engines, were dispatched to Bury End Farm, Rectory Road, situated close to Upton upon Severn, shortly before 07:00 GMT on Saturday. Spokesperson Simon Cusack stated that the fire within the structure, which was undergoing destruction and contained multiple vehicles, was generating considerable smoke. The conflagration, currently under investigation, was brought to a controlled state by Saturday morning, although firefighting personnel continued to be present at the location. Mr. Cusack explained that a “significant smoke plume” persisted, leading to the request for town residents to keep their windows and doors closed “until around about lunchtime.” He further mentioned that the response to the incident was subsequently reduced to five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform. He added, “We’ve got a fire investigation officer in attendance at the incident and she will be spending probably the next four or five hours at the scene, trying to establish the cause.” For updates, follow BBC Hereford & Worcester on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
