Nottingham is poised to obtain over £3 million to advance the revitalization of the Broad Marsh district. This funding, intended for demolition activities on the structural remnants of the previous shopping center, is expected to be supplied by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA). According to Nottingham City Council, the £3.3 million grant will enable them to move forward with the redevelopment of the vicinity surrounding the recently established Green Heart location. The EMCCA indicated that the allocation of funds was scheduled for discussion and approval during a board meeting taking place in Mansfield on Monday. Neghat Khan, leader of Nottingham City Council, stated: “This is key funding that the city has bid for to accelerate our ambitious plans for Broad Marsh.” Khan added: “If we secure the grant at EMCCA’s board meeting next week, this will be a great example of partnership working between the new regional mayor and Nottingham City Council.” Regional mayor Claire Ward commented: “Broad Marsh is one of the region’s biggest development opportunities and this funding will help towards delivering the masterplan for the site.” She further stated: “It will go towards the demolition of part of the frame near to the Green Heart and will be an important step in helping to bring forward work on the site.”
