Aberdeen defender Nicky Devlin expressed his belief that the team’s recent significant defeat by Celtic at Hampden will not influence tonight’s crucial top-of-the-table Premiership match at Pittodrie. Nevertheless, he issued a warning, stating it would be “a long night” if the Dons were to repeat the errors made during their 6-0 League Cup semi-final loss. Devlin recalled, “Before that we had drawn three times in a row with Celtic in 90 minutes.” He further commented, “We do have the semi-final to look back on and if we are not at it, and Celtic are, they are capable of giving a hard game for everyone.” Devlin added that despite acknowledging Celtic’s quality, the team aims to concentrate on their own performance, stating, “So as much as we know how good Celtic are, we want to try and focus on ourselves. If we can play at our best then I am sure it will be an enjoyable, good game.” Devlin reiterated his warning, saying, “We know if we make the same mistakes as we did at Hampden it is going to be a long night for us.” He also noted that the manager has emphasized the team’s strengths, focusing on consistently executing them.
