A Limavady-based manufacturer of specialized clinical and therapeutic chairs, Seating Matters, plans to generate 62 new employment opportunities in the north west region. The company distributes its chairs internationally, providing comfort and postural support. These positions are linked to a £3.7 million investment scheduled over the next two years, aimed at expanding the company’s manufacturing operations in both Limavady and Londonderry. Established in 2008, the company currently has employees in various locations, including Limavady, the United States, Canada, and Australia. Martin Tierney, the Managing Director, expressed the company’s expectation that this investment would facilitate a tripling of its turnover by 2027. “With increased production capacity and over 60 new staff, we will be ready to scale rapidly and further ourselves as an award-winning exporter known for products which dramatically impact the lives of the most dependent patients in our society, and the people who care for them,” he said. George McKinney of Invest NI commented: “Since 2008, Invest NI has worked with Seating Matters to achieve ambitious growth targets.” Economy Minister Conor Murphy, following a visit to the Limavady site on Monday, stated that the investment is expected to reinforce the company’s standing as a regional employer. Mr. Murphy also noted that these new positions in the north west would provide significant employment prospects for the local population. “This latest investment will further expand its capacity and enable it to produce even more products efficiently,” Mr Murphy said. Additionally, Mr. Murphy attended an event at the Guildhall in Derry on Monday. This visit was part of a series of engagements commemorating the first anniversary of the business support service, Go Succeed. Go Succeed reported that during its inaugural year, it has interacted with nearly 27,500 individuals and businesses, and has distributed over £1.9 million in grants. Copyright 2024 BBC.
