Swansea City head coach Luke Williams stated that his team will encounter Leeds United, described as an “absolutely fabulous” side poised for the Premier League, during their match on Sunday. Under manager Daniel Farke, Leeds concluded the previous Championship season in third place, failing to secure an immediate promotion to the Premier League following their loss to Southampton in the play-off final. Williams anticipates that Leeds will improve on their previous performance this season, predicting they will secure a top-two finish in the second tier. The Swansea head coach remarked, “Personally I think they will.” He elaborated, “It’s not like there aren’t other excellent sides in the division, but this group have been together and had a very good season last season, when [they missed out as] the teams at the top had very high points totals.” Williams added, “They have built on that and have an excellent manager who has been in this position in many times. That’s a good combination.” Prior to the international break, Leeds secured a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers, marking their fourth win in six matches under Farke’s management. Their roster features numerous standout Championship players, among them former Swansea City individuals Joe Rodon, Daniel James, and Joel Piroe. Williams further commented, “They are an absolutely fabulous team at the level.” He continued, “But we have competed this season against the top sides better than we did last season, so we have to take some confidence from that and be brave and try to make a really good performance at home.” He concluded, “We will have to be immaculate defensively and we will have to be ruthless at the other end.” Swansea has experienced only one league defeat at home this season, which occurred when Millwall secured a victory, deemed undeserved, by scoring the sole goal during a late breakaway. Conversely, Leeds aims to enhance its performance in away matches. Despite winning five consecutive games at Elland Road, the Yorkshire team has failed to secure an away win in their last four outings.
