During a court proceeding, a man facing charges of multiple rapes asserted that he would be incapable of physically restraining an individual, citing his own experience of childhood sexual abuse. Jamie Kadolski, aged 24 and residing at Ladysmith Road, Norwich, faces accusations of 13 sexual offences, reportedly perpetrated over an 18-month span involving four different women. In his defence, Mr. Kadolski stated that he maintained a “loving relationship” with one of the complainants, whom he had encountered via an online dating application. Mr. Kadolski refutes the allegations, asserting that all sexual encounters were consensual. The trial is ongoing at Norwich Crown Court. Testifying in court, the 24-year-old defendant indicated that he had met one of the complainants on Tinder, an internet dating platform, where he stated he was seeking “short term fun”. Mr. Kadolski informed the court that the complainant initiated contact with the first message, and their relationship turned sexual during their initial date. He further testified that he had met her family and described their connection as a “fairly standard loving relationship,” adding that he never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with her. Mr. Kadolski disclosed to the court that he received diagnoses of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, dyspraxia, and autism spectrum disorder in 2010, but maintained that these conditions did not impair his comprehension of consent. While Mr. Kadolski has been accused of 15 sexual offences, the jury has been informed that there is no case for him to answer regarding two of these charges. Among the charges are four allegations of rape against a single woman, occurring between August and December 2022. The jury was informed that Mr. Kadolski participated in three police interviews between November 2023 and April 2024, during which he denied all allegations presented by the complainants. When interrogated by officers, he stated his aversion to the idea of restraining someone, explaining that he had been “sexually abused as a child”. Asked by officers if there were disputes with one of the complainants with whom Mr. Kadolski was in a relationship, he responded negatively. He recalled her crying on one occasion, stating he had comforted her with a cuddle, but informed officers, “I’m not the best with empathy or sympathy”. The court was informed that he had told officers he was aware that one of the other complainants resided in a facility providing support for individuals with mental health issues. Mr. Kadolski faces accusations of two counts of assault by penetration and attempted strangulation with the intent to commit rape or sexual assault. Additional charges include sexual assault and assault by penetration involving a second complainant in January 2023. A third woman is reportedly a victim of sexual assault in September 2023, and a fourth is alleged to have been raped in January of the current year. Mr. Kadolski maintains his denial of all charges.
