Scotland international prop Will Hurd has finalized a contract extension with the Leicester Tigers. Hurd, who grew up in Leicestershire and played for the grassroots club Ashby, has committed his future to the Premiership side. The 25-year-old, born in Leicestershire, has accumulated 44 first-team appearances for the Tigers since his arrival in 2021, following a period with Glasgow Warriors. Earlier this year, he debuted for Scotland in Canada and has since scored one try across four international appearances for his country. Hurd expressed his satisfaction to the club website, stating, “I’ve achieved some big goals of mine in the last 12 months and Leicester have been a big factor in that. I still have a lot of development left in me and there’s no club better than Leicester for me to do that.” This season, Hurd has featured in only three matches for the Tigers under head coach Michael Cheika. England’s Joe Heyes currently holds the first-choice tight-head position, while the highly experienced 37-year-old Dan Cole also remains a significant presence in the role. Cheika commented on Hurd’s performance, saying, “He [Hurd] has been competing excellently inside of the squad in a very competitive position and is taking great steps forward.” Post navigation Cottee Questions Lopetegui’s Appointment and West Ham’s Stagnation Kilmarnock 0-2 Celtic Match: Player Performances Reviewed
