A West Northamptonshire councillor has transitioned her affiliation from the independent group to the Labour Party. Sue Sharps, who represents the Brackley ward, stated that she believed joining the party was “the best way to secure a brighter future for Brackley and beyond”. In a statement shared on social media, she further remarked, “I believe Labour will now be the voice for change on our council too after years of Conservative failures.” She also added, “I believe change will only truly begin in West Northamptonshire through this Labour group.” Wendy Randall, the leader of the Labour group for West Northamptonshire Council, expressed that it was “great news” that Ms Sharps had joined their ranks. Ian McCord, who leads the independent group at the council, said: “I wish Sue every possible success and thank her for her contribution to Brackley, West Northamptonshire Council and the independents to date. “It has been a real pleasure to work with her.”” For more Northamptonshire news, follow BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
