A lorry driver has passed away following a “tragic incident” at a warehouse located in Avonmouth, Bristol. B&M, the retailer operating over 700 stores throughout the UK, confirmed the death of one of its drivers during the early hours of Sunday morning. The Health and Safety Executive has initiated an investigation into the occurrence, with a spokesperson confirming their coordination with Avon and Somerset Police. The South West Ambulance Service informed the BBC that they received a call at 04:37 GMT on Sunday, and dispatched two double-crewed ambulances along with a hazardous area response team to the location. A B&M spokesperson said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning. “At this moment, we are working closely with the relevant authorities and conducting a thorough investigation to establish all the facts surrounding this tragic incident. “In the meantime, our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones affected during this incredibly difficult time.” Reports indicate that the incident is thought to have occurred within the car park of the DHL warehouse, also situated in Avonmouth. A spokesperson for the company said: “We are aware of the death of a B&M colleague. Our thoughts and sympathies are with their family.” For updates, follow BBC Bristol on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
