Residents across the Channel Islands convened for Remembrance Sunday, participating in various services and parades. Islanders attended multiple events, observing a two-minute silence at 11:00 GMT to honor those who served in both World Wars and subsequent conflicts. In St Ouen, Jersey, a service took place where community members, including the Sea Scouts, laid poppy wreaths at the local war memorial. St Peter Port also hosted a parade, which proceeded from the fire station to Smith Street, led by bagpipe players. Following the procession, wreaths were placed at the town’s war memorial. A service in St Helier saw poppies laid at the town’s Cenotaph, while Alderney simultaneously staged a parade to commemorate the event. Ports of Jersey announced on Facebook its intention to observe the two-minute silence on both Sunday and Monday. The organization stated: “All members of our Ports of Jersey community will pause for quiet reflection.” Sports teams similarly acknowledged Remembrance Sunday. Guernsey FC, for instance, posted on its Facebook page that a two-minute silence was observed before its women’s team competed against St Peter in Jersey.
