Nassalam will not participate in the 2024 Welsh Grand National at Chepstow Racecourse, thus foregoing the opportunity to defend his championship. Chepstow Racecourse has served as the venue for the Welsh Grand National since 1949. The seven-year-old horse, trained by the father-and-son team of Gary and Josh Moore, achieved a commanding 34-length victory in the previous year’s event. Trainer Josh Moore conveyed to At The Races: “He’s missed some key bits of work at home, he just needs a bit of time and this has come too soon.” Eight-year-old Monbeg Genius is currently listed as the bookmakers’ top choice for this year’s race, which is scheduled for Friday, 27 December.
