Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has announced he will commence his “recovery process” following a “frustrating” injury sustained during the match against Real Madrid. The 25-year-old’s unavailability presents a challenge for Reds manager Arne Slot, particularly as his squad is set to face title rivals Manchester City this Sunday. While the club has not yet provided details regarding the duration of Konate’s absence, the centre-back conveyed his disappointment via social media on Friday. On Instagram, Konate stated: “So frustrating to pick up this injury right at the end of a great game on Wednesday night. Now we start the recovery process but one thing I promise is I will come back and be the best I can be once again. Thank you for the amazing support at Anfield.” He added, “Inshallah we will keep going and I will support the team every step of the way.” Since replacing 21-year-old Jarell Quansah at half-time in the season’s opening fixture at Ipswich, Konate has been a starter in every Premier League and Champions League game.
