Most of north-west England is subject to weather warnings for snow, ice, and sleet. The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning for snow and ice into effect, spanning from 19:00 GMT until 10:00 GMT on Tuesday. The only regions excluded from this warning are western coastal areas such as Southport, Blackpool, and Formby. According to the forecaster, this wintry weather has the potential to lead to power outages and could affect mobile phone services, road networks, and rail lines. A spokesperson for the Met Office stated: “A spell of snow may bring disruption during Monday night and Tuesday morning.” The spokesperson indicated that snow accumulation is most probable on higher ground, with depths of five to 10cm anticipated above 200m, and as much as 15 to 20cm above 300m. They further noted: “There is a small chance of snow settling at lower levels, where 5 to 10cm would prove much more disruptive, but this remains very uncertain but seems most likely across parts of Yorkshire and Derbyshire.” The Met Office has advised residents in the impacted regions to exercise caution on icy roads and pedestrian paths. It also mentioned a “slight chance” that certain rural communities might become isolated. The office stated: “As rain, sleet and snow clear on Tuesday morning, ice may form on untreated surfaces.” Post navigation Dorset Couple Describes Near-Death Ordeal in Valencia Floods Storm Bert Disrupts Events and Travel Across Sussex
