Management at Exeter Airport has announced “steady growth” in its passenger figures, coinciding with a continued increase in profits after a downturn caused by the pandemic. Between April and October 2024, the facility recorded 337,993 travelers, which represents an increase of 15,740 compared to the corresponding months of the previous year. This 5% rise was partially attributed to the introduction of a new Ryanair service to Palma, Majorca. Airport management indicated expectations for additional growth in 2025. According to the airport, the holiday company TUI intends to expand its flight offerings from Exeter by deploying a second aircraft to serve an increased number of European destinations. Stephen Wiltshire, the managing director of Exeter Airport, stated that the ongoing rise in passenger volumes demonstrates both dedicated effort and the attractiveness of Exeter Airport as an accessible entry point for travel within the UK and internationally. He further commented, “With TUI’s second aircraft arriving next summer and new routes being added, we’re excited to offer even more choice to local people flying from their local airport.” The increase in traveler figures observed this summer aligns with the airport’s return to profitability, marking its first such achievement since the pandemic, over the 12-month period concluding in March. Regional & City Airports (RCA), a division of Rigby Group plc, is the owner and operator of Exeter Airport. RCA additionally owns and operates Norwich Airport and Bournemouth Airport, and manages Solent Airport under contract.
